Vision and Plan Assessment Questions
Is there a vision that embraces substance abuse prevention?
Who has the vision?
How widely is the vision shared?
How do members of the community perceive the vision?
Will the community perceive the vision?
Will the community support the vision?
Is there more than one vision? Are the visions compatible? Might the competing visions affect community readiness?
Are there people with planning skills available?
Do they have the time, talent, resources, and willingness to act to develop and implement the program?
Are community members willing to contribute to the planning process by participating in needs assessment activities and supporting the implementation of the plan?
Are there local evaluators who can be involved in the planning process to help design the plan and ensure that appropriate and measurable program objectives are identified?
Are the approaches and methods implied by the vision logical?
Are the approaches consistent with research findings on effective strategies?
Are the approaches suitable for the target population?
Is there evidence that the risk or protective factors addressed by the proposed prevention approach match those in the target population?
